There are truly no words to describe my excitement and appreciation for being an assistant principal at Simmons Middle School. I am overfilled with joy and thankful for the opportunity to serve the students of Simmons Middle School. I am a lifelong learner and very passionate about my role in supporting students as they navigate their educational careers. It is my goal to provide each student with an exceptional educational experience that is filled with opportunities to learn, grow, and lead.
As I am entering my 20th year in education, I reflect on the numerous roles that I have held and how each of these roles will influence my work as an instructional leader. At the start of my career, I taught ELA in grades 6-12 as well as English 101, English 102, and Public Speaking at a local junior college. For the past 10 years, I have worked as a school counselor, serving students in grades K-12. Most recently, I’ve had the opportunity to work as a school counselor at Hoover High School as well as HCS District Lead Counselor.
I am truly a lifelong learner, and my academic background reflects my passion and high expectations for learning. I received my B.S. in Secondary Education from UAB, M.A. in Teaching: English Concentration from Troy University, M.Ed. in School Counseling from The University of Montevallo, Ed.S. in Teacher Leadership from The University of Montevallo, Certificate in Instructional Leadership from The University of Montevallo, and Ed.D from Samford University.
I am married to Dr. Terrell Brown, who is also an educator, and we have four children. I look forward to partnering with the Simmons community as we accomplish great things for our students.
Go Bucs!!!!
