🛡️💻 Smart & Safe: HCS Chromebook Guidelines 🔒✨

Using your Hoover City Schools Chromebook responsibly is the key to a great school year! 🚀 By receiving an HCS device, students and families agree to the HCS Acceptable Use Policy (AUP)—using digital tools in a safe, ethical, and respectful way.

Key Reminders for Students & Families:
  • 🔍 No Expectation of Privacy: Chromebooks and HCS Google accounts are district property, and all digital activity can be reviewed.
  • 🏠 Rules Apply Everywhere: Web filters and acceptable use policies remain active whether you are at school, at home, or on another network.
  • ⚠️ Keep It Responsible: Improper use can lead to restricted access, suspended privileges, or device revocation.

Each HCS Chromebook is owned, labeled, and inventoried by Hoover City Schools. To protect the warranty, please ensure the clear protective case is never removed!

Here is how you can help keep your device running smoothly all year long:
🧰 Care & Handling
  • ⚡ Charge Daily: Bring a fully charged Chromebook to school every morning.
  • 🚫 Keep It Clean: No personal stickers, drawings, or tape on the device or case.
  • 🥤 Stay Safe: Keep food and drinks away from the device, and avoid extreme temperatures.
  • 🚨 Report Issues: Let us know right away if a device is damaged, lost, or stolen!
🏠 At-Home Tech Habits
  • 📍 Designate a Spot: Choose a central area (outside the bedroom) to store and charge the Chromebook overnight.
  • 🤝 Set Expectations: Establish clear family rules for device time and screen use.
  • 👁️ Stay Involved: Parents/guardians and students are responsible for device activity outside of school.
